SUMMARY:NAMI Walk for Mental Illness
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again\, for the annual NAMI Walk! Each year\, The Church at Highland Park sponsors a team to take part. NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness\, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI’s mission is close to the heart of HP and its members. ALL people are uniquely created in the image of God and deserve love and acceptance! NAMI is a fantastic representation of that eternal truth. \nThe team is headed up by Becky Dillard\, who is very passionate about this issue! We would love for you to sign up to either walk\, or to donate money if you can’t do so. We often walk together\, and Becky will be sure to communicate to everyone where to meet and how to walk together. It’s great fun\, and all the proceeds go to a fantastic cause. \nIt takes place on Saturday morning\, September 30 from 7:30am-12pm at The Long Center for the Performing Arts. \nSign up for The Church @ HP’s team or donate here! \nContact the Church Office or Becky Dillard with any questions.

SUMMARY:Womanfest 2021
DESCRIPTION:This year\, much like everything else\, Womanfest will look a little different. The main event will take place on Saturday\, November 13 at Pecan Manor in Taylor\, Texas. Thankfully\, Taylor is a short drive from Austin! This is where we will have our speaker/discussion and time together. We are planning on using an outdoor space\, but if it is too cold or wet\, there is an indoor space that we will be able to use as well. Please bring snacks or drinks to share with the group. \n\nSome of you expressed interest in staying the night\, so there are 5 reserved rooms (10 people) for the night of Friday\, November 12. The rooms will go to the first 10 people who pay for them. Each room sleeps 2 and has a queen size bed\, so you will either be sharing a bed or you will need to bring a blow up mattress. These rooms will be first come first serve\, but if there are enough people that want to stay\, Abby will look into reserving more rooms at a nearby location.\n\nPay for your room here.\nEmail Abby at abyrd@thechurchathp.org once you pay for your room\, and she will put your name on the list of 10.\n\nInformation:\n\nThe price is $100 if you are staying the night. Check in begins at 3:00pm on Friday.\nIf you are just coming for the Saturday event\, the cost is only $20.\nLocation- Pecan Manor- 819 Hackberry St\, Taylor\, TX 76574\n\nSaturday Schedule: \n9:00am–Everyone arrives at Pecan Manor \n9:30am–Morning Session \n12:00-1:30pm–Lunch on your own \n1:30-3:30pm–Afternoon Session \n  \n\nFill out your registration form here!

SUMMARY:Micah 6 Drop-In Meal
DESCRIPTION:The Church at Highland Park will provide dinner for the Micah 6 Youth Drop In Center on April 25. We will follow the COVID-19 protocols as outlined by the Center to prepare and either drop-off or serve the meal to the 15-30 street dependent persons who come to this weekly meal. \nAt this time we are asking for: \n\nVolunteers to prepare food. We plan to do a meal for 30 people with a meat entree\, green vegetable\, salad\, bread\, and dessert.\nDonations toward the meal. If you’re not in a place where you can prepare or deliver food\, but you would like to contribute to the effort\, email office@thechurchathp.org\nAlana Mallard is willing to have her house be the drop-off and pick-up point again. This has worked well in the past and folks love seeing one another and visiting\, socially-distant with masks.\nMichelle Poncik\, our board rep at Micah 6\, is heading this effort for the meal on April 25th. Please text her to volunteer.
