We’ll have a BBQ Potluck (we’ll bring the brisket\, you bring the sides)\, Easter Crafts\, Bingo with prizes\, and a Silent Auction with all proceeds going to our youth group for Camp this summer in the Mississippi Delta! DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again! Youth Camp is happening at Schreiner University June 5-10. We are so excited to be headed back to in-person camp! \nAll youth-aged students (completed 6th grade through completed 12th grade) may attend. \nThe cost of camp this year will be $315 per student. We will be doing fundraisers so the youth can help pay their way to camp\, so be ready when those fundraisers come around! DESCRIPTION:We are SO EXCITED that this year we will be doing Discipleship Now at The Church @ Highland Park! \nDiscipleship Now is a weekend-long event for Youth ages 6th grade through 12th grade. It’s a wonderful time of a lot of fun\, making friends\, and spiritual formation. Over the weekend\, they will be broken up into groups and stay at host homes of church members\, and have group leaders that will lead their group time. I will share the schedule for the weekend once it has been finalized. \nOur theme this year is “Wild” and is based on a poem by Mary Oliver that says “what will you do with this one wild and precious life?” \nWe are bringing in a speaker named Kelsey Brown. She’s so excited to join us for the weekend! Kelsey attended seminary at Logsdon Seminary in Abilene\, Texas with Masyn. \nWe really hope to see all our youth and their friends here for this weekend! If they have other events during the weekend\, they will be able to leave and come back. You will just need to fill out a check out form so group leaders are aware about when their students are leaving and coming back. Cheryl Kimble and her husband Roy! Unfortunately\, our Minister for Youth and Outreach\, Masyn Evans-Clements\, will not be able to attend because of her pregnancy\, but she is looking forward to making a trip down there one of the days of the week in order to attend worship with the youth. Both Cheryl and Roy will have a background check completed beforehand. Here are the details:\n\n\nDates: June 20-25 (campers and sponsors will leave after church on Sunday)\nTheme: The Community of Faith\nCamp Pastor: Pastor Garrett Vickrey of Woodland Baptist Church in San Antonio\, TX\nPlace: Schreiner University in Kerrville\, TX\nCost: $325/camper\n\n\nThe registration deadline is May 31! Please register here by that date so we can make sure everyone that wants to go has a spot! The rest of the paperwork will be handed out at a later date.\n\n\nPayment:\nThe cost for camp will be due Sunday\, June 6. 2021. This can be paid online here and should be put in the “Youth Camp” section. It can also be paid in cash or by check (made out to The Church at Highland Park and with Memo saying “Youth Camp”) given to Masyn or Cheryl or placed in the offering plate.\n\n\nCOVID-19 Information: \n\n– Masks are required when not eating or sleeping or doing strenuous activity (like sports during free time/interest groups)\n– We will do as much possible outside\, including meals\n– Use hand sanitizer and practice good hand washing often\n– Pre-screen health checks before camp\n– **For those planning on going to camp\, they will be requiring proof of a negative COVID test taken 72 hours before camp or proof of first and second dose of vaccination**\n\n\n\nWhat to Bring:\n– Clothes for Sunday-Friday (including rec clothes\, clothes for worship at night\, and lots of socks and underwear)\n– Pajamas\n– Shoes (including tennis shoes for sports/outdoor activities)\n\n– Bedding (fitted sheet and comforter or sleeping bag to go on top of the mattress)\n– Toiletries (body wash\, shampoo/conditioner\, toothbrush/toothpaste\, deodorant\, etc.)\n– Bible\, pens\, notebook\n\n– Backpack to be able to carry everything they need\n– 1 shower towel\, and 1 beach towel\n– Sunscreen/Bug spray\n– Any medications needed\n– Reusable water bottle/sunglasses/hat\n– Any snacks they would like to keep in their room\n– Spending money for camp\, and a suggested $20-25 for a meal on the way to camp and a meal on the way back\n\n\nIf you have any additional questions or concerns\, please contact Masyn Evans-Clements at masynec@thechurchathp.org or you can feel free to call or text her at (432) 288-5823.
