What is Womanfest?

Womanfest is a yearly retreat that many women in our community take part in! Each year, we have different themes, speakers, activities, and a different location that we visit! This is a time for not only spiritual formation, but also for community strengthening, and a whole bunch of fun!

This year, we’re going to Georgetown, TX, a beautiful and historic town right outside of Austin. We will be staying in a Fairfield Inn and using their meeting room for our communal time, and we will have plenty of time to get out and about in the town to go shopping, eat, or listen to live music.

Make sure to read all the information, and then fill out the sign up form below! But please note, your spot will not be reserved until you pay the cost of the retreat (in full) here. If you need financial assistance, please contact Cheryl, Masyn, or the church office. They are all happy to help you discretely.

The Logistics

This year, Womanfest is happening at Fairfield Inn in Georgetown, Texas, about 30 minutes from the church in Central Austin.

We will be there from November 14-16, coming back after church on Sunday. The cost for each participant varies depending on how many people are in your room:

1 person: $375/person

2 people: $200/person

3 or 4 people: $140/person

This includes your accommodation, any supplies needed for workshops being taught, and the meals we will provide.

There are limited rooms available, so in order to reserve your spot, we are requiring that you pay the cost in full here. Please do NOT hesitate to contact the Church Office, Rev. Cheryl, or Rev. Masyn if you are in need of financial assistance! We truly hope that everyone that wants to go can participate.

Our Speaker

Our speaker this year is Rev. Jackie Saxon, who is a close friend of Rev. Cheryl. She grew up in Rochester, New York and attended Howard University, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance Banking.

After much prayer, discernment and 12 ½ years of work experience, Jackie resigned from IBM and enrolled as a full-time student and Presidential Scholar at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary where she earned her Master of Divinity degree. It was while she was a seminarian that University Baptist Church of Austin called her to be their Associate Pastor and upon graduation promptly ordained her in 2001. She was their Associate Pastor for eight years when Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary invited her to be the Admission Counselor Recruiter which led to becoming the Vice President for Student Affairs and Vocation, which she served in that capacity for a total of eight years before resigning in March of 2017.

She is a gifted leader with proven competencies in Administration, Pastoral Care, Financial Management, Preaching and Public speaking, just to name a few. Her creativity, humor, imagination, teamwork, and collegiality are very much appreciated among her colleagues and friends.

In October of 2018 she called to be the Executive Minister for the Mid-American Region of Iowa and Minnesota. She says that she traded one capital city for another. She now resides in the Des Moines, Iowa area and is learning all about the Midwest. We are so excited to have her at Womanfest this year!
