Stay Strong
Composed by Mary McDonald
Text by R. G. Huff

The promise of the Lord is very clear:
He’s never far away; He’s always near,
encouraging, removing every fear.
Restoring hope, God whispers in your ear, “Stay strong”.

For those of us who love the living Lord,
whose roots are planted deeply in His Word,
all things will work together for the best.
Our faith is surely strengthened by the test.

Stay strong when things around you crumble. Stay strong
though on life’s path you stumble. Stay strong.
The stress of life may take away your song,
but in the midst of all the wrong, stay strong.

We walk these paths together, not alone.
Our lives are tightly woven, closely sewn.
Heart to heart, we move on hand in hand,
and as we go, remind ourselves again: Stay strong

when thing around you crumble. Stay strong
though on life’s path you stumble. Stay strong.
The stress of life may take away your song,
but in the midst of all the wrong, stay strong!

Stay strong!

Stay strong!

Text Inspiration Notes

On Memorial Day Weekend 2016, Chett and April Haynes were awakened in the middle of the night by that phone call no parent wants to receive: their college-sophomore son had been severely injured in a tragic automobile accident and had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition. When they got to the emergency room, before they could say a word, Trent — barely able to speak — said simply, “Stay strong.”

Two years later, Trent graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University, and throughout the ordeal, those first words he spoke to his parents have become his and their motto, echoing the encouragement of the LORD to Joshua: “Be strong and take courage.” (Joshua 1:6)
